Intro to Competitive Swimming
Aquatics / Aquatic Camps and Clinics -
COVID-19 has required us to make some changes to the way we conduct camps, clinics and activities. This program will follow all Minnesota Department of Health guidance for summer youth sports including smaller group sizes, more rigid sanitation procedures, participant health screenings, etc. Parents are asked to keep their children at home if they show signs of illness.
Welcome to the world of competitive swimming! It's a fantastic sport and great experience for anyone. This program is for beginning/novice swimmers who are interested in learning more about competitive swimming and trying it out in a low stress environment. This program is open to all youth going into grades K-8. All four competitive strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly) will be taught, as swimmers are ready, as well as technical elements of racing (starts and turns). Practices will be twice per week with one swim meet at the end of the program. Swimmers will learn to improve their techniques, build self-confidence, physical fitness and connect with other swimmers.
Prerequisite: Swimmers must have passed level 5 in the SwimAmerica Swim Lesson Program or be able to swim one length on their stomach and back in a 25 yard pool without stopping, and be comfortable in deep water.
