First Lego League Challenge Team

Courses: Youth / STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) -
Fall 2020

COVID-19 has required us to make some changes to the way we have conducted classes in the past. This program will follow all Minnesota Department of Health guidance including small group sizes, sanitation procedures, participant health screenings, etc. Please stay home if you show any signs of illness. PLEASE NOTE: Students and instructors are required to wear a mask for the safety of everyone.

FIRST LEGO League Challenge (FLL) is a robotics program for 9 to 14 year olds designed to get youth. Teams of 6 to 10 students collaborate to build and program an autonomous robot (using Lego Mindstorms robot set) and create an innovative solution to a problem correlating to the yearly theme. FLL combines the engineering challenge of a robotics competition with real-world problem-solving and inventing. FLL team members learn science and technology skills in addition to valuable employment and life skills. The theme of The Challenge changes every year and is based on a real-world scientific topic. This year's competition will be done virtually.

This team-based, hands-on, competitive robotics program provides challenging and exciting learning opportunities for young people. It spurs innovation, develops teamwork and leadership skills, and promotes excitement in science and technology.

The FLL season goes from September to December and may be longer if your team qualifies for the state tournament.

Join us for an informational parent and child meeting on September 28th from 6-6:30 pm in room D221 at the CEC.
