Swimming Lessons - Level 3 - Kicking

Aquatics / Swimming Lessons -
Winter/Spring 2021

COVID-19 has required us to make some changes to the way we conduct camps, clinics and activities. This program will follow all Minnesota Department of Health guidance for public pools including smaller group sizes, more rigid sanitation procedures, participant health screenings, etc. Parents are asked to keep their children at home if they show signs of illness.

For All Levels

  • The number of classes scheduled at once will be reduced.
  • The number of students per class will not exceed 4 students and 1 instructor.
  • Students will be spaced 6 ft apart during lessons and instructors will remain 6 ft from students except in cases of emergency.
  • Students and parents will be screened for symptoms when they enter the facility per the MDH recommendations.
  • Ill students will not be allowed to attend lessons.
  • Instructors will wear masks while teaching. They may switch to face shields when in the water.
  • Classes will be 30 minutes long to accommodate deeper cleaning between classes. This includes
    • Disinfecting all high touch surfaces between classes
    • Disinfecting all equipment used during lessons
  • All students and families will be asked to exit through the patio doors at the end of lessons to allow for 1 way traffic as the next group arrives.
  • We will have students meet their instructors on deck for the first day instead of gathering in the bleachers.
  • When possible we will ask parents to drop students off for lessons instead of waiting in the Aquatic Center.
    • 1 Spectator per family will be allowed on an as needed only basis. We will require that these spectators wear masks and sit in the bleachers for the duration of class. Disinfecting wipes will be available to wipe your spot when you leave.
    • The parent or guardian who is entering the water with swimmers in levels 2 and under are permitted to enter the Aquatic Center with their swimmer.
  • Students will be asked to arrive in their swimsuits and leave in their swimsuits because locker rooms will be unavailable. Only 2 family bathrooms will be available for restroom use.
  • Students will be asked to arrive no more than 5 minutes before their lessons to allow time for cleaning between groups.
  • Students will not be moved classes throughout the session to reduce how many other students they are near.

Levels 1 and 2

  • A parent or guardian over the age of 16 will be required to be in the water with the student
    • Since contact is needed for swimmers of this age and ability, parents will be asked to be in the water with their swimmer to provide that contact and assistance.
  • Instructor will teach the lessons from the pool deck. It will be formatted similar to our parent child lessons
  • The parent or guardian will assist in keeping the student/adult pairs 6ft apart

In this level children will learn how to position their bodies in the most efficient way, streamlined. They will also learn how to propel themselves with a strong kick. The advancement goals for this level are 15 feet of kicking on both the front and back. To register for this level, children must be able to do 10 relaxed bobs with rhythmic breathing and be able to float and glide independently on both the front and back. Typical ages for this level is 4-6 years old.

New Prague Aquatics and Community Education have made the decision to move from providing Red Cross lessons to the SwimAmerica program. SwimAmerica is a state-of-the-art, learn to swim program developed by the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) that is goal driven and technique oriented. SwimAmerica programs are operated by certified swim coaches who have achieved a minimum of ASCA Level II Coaching Certification. SwimAmerica is the only swim program endorsed by the American Swimming Coaches Association, the most prestigious coaches association in the world.

REFUND POLICY: Full refunds are given when Community Education cancels a class. Refunds (less a $5 cancellation fee) will be issued when a participant cancels a registration at least five (5) working days prior to the first day of class.
