    1st/2nd Grade Baseball/Softball

    Boys and Girls Completing Grade 1 and Grade 2 The focus for this group is on fostering an interest in the game and developing basic skills through a fun, positive, and encouraging approach. Participants will enjoy: Continued emphasis on basic fundamentals and skill development in hitting, throwing, catching, fielding, and base running Advanced t-ball/coach pitch rules to teach the game of baseball and enhance competition Small group practice stations at each session An emphasis on team defensive and offensive skills Coaches will pitch to their team, but tees may be used early in the season for kids who need it. Want to enrich your child's experience? Become a COACH! No baseball/softball experience necessary. As a token of our appreciation a $25 code (per family) for a future Community Education class will be given to each team volunteer at the end of the session.     2D Sidewalk Chalk Camp

    Do you like to draw? Have you ever wanted to learn how large pieces of sidewalk chalk art are created? Or want to learn a new and upcoming medium in the art world? This camp will teach you the basic to get you started on this diverse, exciting art form. Come prepared to get dirty as we create chalk art. Participants will learn new techniques, learn to use the gridding system, and will create a large piece of their choice to take home. Participants will be provided with a box of chalk that professional chalk artists use.
  • 5th & 6th Grade Padded Football

    Youth Entering Grades 5th & 6th in Fall 2024 Join your friends as we take the game of football one step further for this age group by putting on the pads and playing teams in other communities. This is a program where participants learn and practice the fundamentals of football as they experience the New Prague Trojan Football team concepts, tradition and drills. All necessary safety equipment (helmet, pads, etc.) is provided for each player. Baseball or soccer cleats are recommended. Practice and game schedules will be provided around August 10th. It is expected to follow the schedule below. (Schedule is subject to change and any changes would be provided to families) Practices Begin the week of August 12th Held three (3) days per week the last couple of weeks of summer Held two (2) days per week between during school on average run 1.5 hours in length start times between 5:30 & 6:00pm Games Begin the week of August 26th Held on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays Part of the Southwest Metro Football League- playing local communities such as Prior Lake, Waconia, Eden Prairie and others Register by July 15th, 2024.     Girls and Boys Entering Grades 5-6 in Fall 2024 Join the New Prague Volleyball coaching staff for an all-skills volleyball camp. Cover the basics of passing, serving, and hitting. Review proper footwork patterns, arm swing, and ball control. A Volley Lite ball and lower net are used, appropriate for this age level. Please register by May 15 to be guaranteed a camp t-shirt.

    Youth Entering Grades 7th & 8th in Fall 2024 New Prague Youth Football will take on some changes this fall as we continue to grow all levels of New Prague Football. This upcoming fall, our 7th and 8th grade levels will enter The Southwest Metro Football League in which we will compete with and play games against surrounding communities. This is a great opportunity for our program and an adjustment that we are excited about rolling out in 2023! Practice and game schedules will be provided around August 10th.     7th & 8th Grade Summer Strength and Conditioning Program

    Entering 7th & 8th grade in 2024 Join district coaches for a program designed to improve your sport performance. Experience a comprehensive and systematic approach to addressing vital components involved in achieving optimal athletic performance. The primary goal of the program is to develop a foundation for future athletic performance. We accomplish this by: Introducing and developing ground based and multi-joint movement patterns. Focusing on technique and skill development Use of developmentally appropriate loads A gradual addition of primary and auxiliary lifts Focusing on the creation of well-rounded athletes This program is designed to improve overall athletic ability and to lay a foundation for future athletic endeavors. All 7th and 8th grade athletes interested in improving their overall athletic performance are highly encouraged to attend. The coach for this program was part of the budget cuts and the program was turned over to our varsity football coach, Coach Norby. Coach Norby, wanting this program to be beneficial and successful for those who are participating; sat down and took all of the programming he runs and created a strength and conditioning program that would best benefit the kids who are participating but also allow for him and his coaches to provide the best of themselves to the program. Several individual skills will be covered - serving, hitting, setting, and passing. Also learn offensive, defensive, and serve receive concepts.     Advantage Educational Programs gives students the option of preparing for the ACT exam in three different ways: the In-School ACT Preparatory Course, Virtual ACT Preparatory Course or the Online ACT Preparatory Course. Courses are designed for students who want to maximize their ACT exam score, as well as those who feel uneasy about their test-taking skills or who have taken the exam and aren't satisfied with their results. Virtual ACT Prep Course This course is designed for students who prefer to prep for the ACT in a virtual classroom. Four, three-hour classes are taught live via Zoom by an Advantage instructor. Internet connection and a tablet or computer is required. Fee for this course is $180. Self-Paced ACT Preparatory Course This course is an excellent alternative for any student unable to attend in-school classes or a student preferring to prepare for the ACT exam on their own and study at their desired pace. Once enrolled, students are sent an access code for their class via email. The fee for this course is $80. Repeating ACT Preparatory Course To repeat the ACT Prep Course at no charge, you will need to be registered in the online course.     Join us for this drawing camp and move your drawing skills to the next level. IN this camp you will develop your drawing skills and become a more confident drawer. This is a short version of our popular 4 day camp. Make drawing easier by using shapes and other drawing techniques that bring your art to life. We'll draw cartoons, animals, landscapes and learn about perspective. Bring a nut-free snack and beverage.
  • Acting Fun for little ones

    In this class, students ages 4-7 can build literacy and communication skills while developing their acting skills and interests. Students will develop these skills while working to create a life performance of two or three of Aesop's fables. Students will use props and costumes to create characters and practice stage movements and memorize lines to perform a show on the last day for family and friends at 11am.

    Develop your child's motor skills, hand eye coordination, cardiovascular fitness and more through Amazing Athletes. Each 45-minute class encompasses two different developmental sport lessons, muscle identification, and fruit or vegetable introduction, using fun activities so they can build their skills at their own pace in a non-competitive atmosphere.
  • Band Jump Start

    This is a great way to jump start the 5th grade band experience. During Band Jump Start, incoming 5th grade band students will learn how to put together and take apart their instrument safely, how to produce their first musical sound on their instrument, and how to read music. By the end of the week, students will be able to play their first song! While participation is not required, all incoming 5th grade band instrumentalists are encouraged to attend.     Beginner Archery Camp

    Are you interested in learning about archery in the schools or learning more about archery? The NP Archery Club invites you to join coaches and veteran students in learning the basics of shooting and safety while you practice your new skills and play games. This is designed for students who are interested in archery, have never been a member of the New Prague Archery Club or have been a member for fewer than two years. Equipment provided. Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring a water bottle.
  • Boys Basketball K-2 Camp

    This camp will focus on fundamentals and learning the game of basketball. Campers will work on improving ball handling, footwork, and shooting skills in station settings. The goal of this camp is to have fun, improve, and to learn.
  • Boys Basketball Skill Development Camp

    Former NPHS head and college coach, AJ Jasperson, will be providing one-hour basketball skill development sessions M-Th for 5 weeks. Players will be improving basketball skills including, but not limited to: ball handling, passing, shooting, getting to the basket, and FT shooting. Boys that participated in the NPBBA are highly encouraged to attend. Course is divided into two course sections; one for grades 5 & 6 and one for grade 7 & 8.
  • Boys Basketball: Ball Handling & Competition Camp

    Campers will learn various drills and techniques to improve their overall ball handling skills. There will be an emphasis on footwork in terms of squaring up, utilizing the pivot foot, and attacking the defense. Campers will learn techniques to help them break pressure, create space, and attack the rim. Campers will also be put into competitive games where these skills will be utilized.
  • Boys Basketball: Shooting Skills Camp

    The shooting camp will be focused on improving and mastering the techniques of proper shooting form and footwork. Campers will have their shooting form individually analyzed. Campers will learn the skills necessary to develop accuracy, form, and confidence. Various ball handling and finishing skills will also be taught, to help campers find scoring opportunities.

    Boys Volleyball Spring Season

    Tryouts: The week of April 1 Games Begin: The week of April 8 Practices/Games: 1-2 practices/week; 1-2 games/week (precise schedule TBD) Teams: Varsity & JV; a third team may be added with enough registered players (there will not be cuts) Season Length: The regular season (12-14 matches) ends May 31; varsity playoffs are the week of June 3 (if we qualify - top 6 in conference); varsity state tournament @ Shakopee H.S. June 11-13 (if we qualify through playoffs) Additional Information: Uniform jerseys will be provided by the program, but each player will be responsible for providing their own plain black athletic shorts.
