    Save on Your Car Insurance With Minnesota Safety Council’s Defensive Driving If you are 55 or older, save money on your car insurance premiums and become a better driver! Minnesota law requires insurance companies to offer you a 10% reduction for three years if you complete the Minnesota Safety Council's Defensive Driving Course, taught by professional, certified instructors. The course is two sessions of classroom - no driving or test required. You will receive a certificate of completion to provide to your insurance company. Attendance at both sessions is required to receive credit. This program is being offered via Zoom technology, it will be taught live and will be interactive. You will be emailed a link to the class.

    Don’t let the cooler weather damper your exercise program. Join your friends and neighbors in a safe, warm, dry environment and walk to your heart’s content. Exercise as often as you like. Bring water and clean, dry tennis shoes. How do I participate? Pre-registration is required. All walkers also need to obtain a hall walking badge PRIOR to walking at any of our schools. Your badge can be picked up between the hours of 7:30 AM-3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, at the New Prague Area Community Education office located at 410 Central Ave North, New Prague - enter through door #1. What is the cost? $5/person/year Where do I walk? Falcon Ridge Elementary (6:30-7:30 AM & 4:30-8:00 PM), New Prague High School indoor walking track (6:30-7:30 AM & 4:00-8:00 PM) or Eagle View Elementary (4:30 PM-8:00 PM). Registration allows you access to all three schools. When do I walk? Monday-Friday when school is in session. Schools are not open for walking when other building activities are taking place, on non-school days and for weather-related closures. Children and strollers are not permitted. Non-school dates will be provided when you pick up your badge. Dates and times are subject to change based upon all school activities. No food or beverages other than water are allowed.     Karen's Mystery Quilt Adventure

    If you like quilting but hate to drag your machine to class, this is the class for you! This will be a mystery quilt, so you won’t know what the final project will look like until the last stitch has been made. You will receive weekly clues via email or US mail, and by the end of nine weeks you will have a completed quilt or quilt top. Your first clue will contain a supply list to help you collect all items needed to make your quilt in the colors and patterns of your choosing. At the end of class, you will receive a copy of the full pattern. All skill levels are welcome, but you will need to know how to follow a pattern to participate. Your instructor will provide you with her email address and phone number so you can ask her questions along the way. We will end this class with an optional show and tell in Montgomery, MN, date TBD. You will receive your first clue the week of Jan 24.

    Night Club 2-Step Dance

    Middle School (with adult ) up to Adult This class will offer dance patterns and moves that are useful in small spaces such as night clubs, weddings, parties and more. Various underarm turns and cross turns for both dancers are easily done. Leads and following are encouraged for smooth execution of the dance. Various "old-time" dances will be taught. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. This class is for singles or couples.

    Pickleball-Elko New Market

    Pickleball is at Eagle View Elementary! Starting after Labor Day through Memorial Day pickleball will be available at the Eagle View Elementary gym on most Thursdays from 7:30 pm-9:30 pm and Saturday mornings from 9:00 am-Noon. You may bring your own equipment (paddle and balls) or we will have a few items that can be borrowed at no cost. The nets are provided. A one time pass for $5 can be paid at the door or purchase the season pass at $50 for unlimited play. Don’t let your lack of pickleball knowledge keep you from coming; this group is very welcoming toward all skill levels. **This registration is for the Eagle View site only. If playing in New Prague, it is a separate registration.

    Wedding or Event Dance Workshop

    All Ages (with adults) Do you have a big event coming up that includes dancing? Want to dazzle everyone on the dance floor with your stellar moves? Concerned about taking the floor at an upcoming wedding dance? Vic will teach you a first dance combo (a couple's dance, father/daughter, mother/son, etc.) as well as the Lindy and a singles line dance This is a great opportunity for the bride and groom, parents/grandparents of the couple, the wedding party and others who would like to learn some dance moves to prepare for the big event. You will learn the steps and have plenty of time to practice. All wedding party will attend this lesson so no partners needed. Bring the shoes you will be wearing that night as well as a water bottle.

    This self-defense seminar will assist participants in acquiring the strategies and the prowess to protect themselves from attacks that are common and unique to women. The students will learn the preemptive tactics, escape maneuvers, verbal interventions, physical techniques, effective usage of self-defense devices, and other counter assault skill sets to quickly end a dangerous encounter. A strong emphasis will placed on the empowerment of the mind.
