Aquatics Registration Information for New Prague Area Schools
District Residents and Non-Residents
We realize the demand for swimming lessons is high at the New Prague Aquatic Center and we are working on finding solutions. First, we are always looking for additional lifeguards and instructors so more swim classes can be offered. If you know of anyone who may be interested in a position, please reach out. These positions are great opportunities for adults as well as students.
The availability of swim classes and the schedule is based on the number of instructors that can be secured for each session. In August 2022, the joint powers board which includes school district and city representatives voted to open a one-week priority registration opportunity for school district residents. During this time, only families living within the New Prague Area School District are able to register. The address that will be used to check residency is the one listed on the family’s Eleyo registration account and Infinite Campus account. Families must log into their Eleyo account to ensure their address information is current prior to registration.
Upon registering for a section, all swimmers will be added to a waitlist and staff will confirm the enrollment. We plan to have enrollments confirmed within the priority week. Each registration has a time and date stamp attached to it, and the registrations will be confirmed in the order they are received. If you choose to register for more than one class for a child, we will be confirming registrations in order for you to get your preferred schedule. All other registrations will be deleted once the child is placed in a class for that session.
If a family registers during the resident registration period and they are not a resident, the registration will be deleted and a new registration must be completed when non-resident registrations opens.
Noted in the chart below are the dates that have been established for resident and non-resident aquatics registrations through the summer so mark your calendars! This chart will continue to be updated with future dates. All registration times will begin at 7:00 a.m. Staff are available at 7:00 am each day in case you have questions or problems when registering.
Resident registration will close at 5pm on the Friday of the week of resident registration. It will then reopen at 7am on the following Monday for resident and non resident registration.
We are hopeful that this will allow more opportunities for New Prague Area School District residents to successfully register for aquatics classes. We will continue to look for additional solutions to this high demand.
During this level, swimmers will practice the crawl stroke on the front with breathing as well and be introduced to the crawl stroke on the back. The advancement goals for this level are 30 ft of crawl stroke with at least 4 correct breaths. To register for this level, children must be able to do 15 ft of side-glide kicking as well as 15 ft of crawl stroke on the front with no breathing. Goggles are highly suggested at level 5 and above. Swimmers with long hair are required to wear a swim cap beginning in level 5 to keep their hair out of their face while learning rhythmic breathing.
New Prague Aquatics and Community Education have made the decision to move from providing Red Cross lessons to the SwimAmerica program. SwimAmerica is a state-of-the-art, learn to swim program developed by the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) that is goal driven and technique oriented. SwimAmerica programs are operated by certified swim coaches who have achieved a minimum of ASCA Level II Coaching Certification. SwimAmerica is the only swim program endorsed by the American Swimming Coaches Association, the most prestigious coaches association in the world.
REFUND POLICY: Full refunds are given when Community Education cancels a class. Refunds (less a $5 cancellation fee) will be issued when a participant cancels a registration at least five (5) working days prior to the first day of class.
