Winter Cheerleading

Winter 2026
The New Prague Cheer Team is looking for athletes who are hardworking, dedicated and have a team first attitude. As a sideline cheer team, we will cheer at the high school boys' basketball and hockey games. The team practices a few times a week and learns Trojan cheers, game day material, stunting, etc.
Open to grades 8-12. Previous cheer experience is not required. Team placements (varsity vs JV) will be made depending on team numbers and after assessing skill level of the participants.

Team uniforms will be provided and need to be returned at the end of the season. Cheerleaders are expected to purchase additional cheer items, including but not limited to cheer shoes, spandex, poms, cheer bow, etc.

Practice is located in the high school cafeteria and is on Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 3:00-5:00 pm. Varsity/JV game days vary.


This online schedule includes practices only; a practice and game schedule will be provided to each cheerleader after registration.


The team will be expected to follow all MSHSL rules and regulations along with the guidelines outlined in the New Prague Cheerleading Handbook. 

Julie Smith

Julie has been coaching the New Prague High School Cheer Team for 8 years. Julie was a Trojan cheerleader herself and graduated from New Prague High School in 2011. She has her Bachelor's degree from Winona State University in Elementary Education and Early Childhood. Currently, Julie is a stay at home mom and lives in Lakeville with her husband, Garrett and their four children: Leo, Henry, Louise and Everly
