  • Adult/Child Beginner Sewing Class

    Do you have a sewing machine that you would like to use but are not sure how? Do you know a child who is interested in learning how to sew? Anne will discuss sewing machine basics like winding bobbins, changing needles, threading the machine, and more. She will also supply you with fabric and help you sew a pillow cover to take home! Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring the following to class: Sewing machine with manual, thread and 45 mm rotary cutter.

    Events and Activities for Adults with Unique Abilities

    We want you to join us! Register for this course to be added to our activity group list for adults with unique abilities. Most social activities and events will be scheduled on the second Monday of the month from 2:30-4:00 pm. You are encouraged to attend all that interest you. The activities will help you meet other adults in the community and build friendships that can last a lifetime. We will send out regular emails and invitations to let you know what the upcoming activities will be. We will try to keep costs low, but there may be a small fee to cover the costs of some activities.
  • Preventing elder financial abuse

    Elder financial abuse, also known as financial exploitation, is the illegal or unauthorized use of an older adult’s funds or resources for the benefit of someone other than the older adult. This includes fraud, theft, and act of deception to gain control over a senior’s money or property. You will learn about common types of financial abuse, indicators, and signs, how to report and get help. This class is for older adults and their families.
  • Goat Yoga

    Ages 6 to Adult (children under 18 must be with an adult and you both need to register) Do you love goats? Yoga? If so, this is for you! Goats are playful, loving, stress-relieving and therapeutic animals. Join us for a healthy mind and healthy body at this one-of-a-kind class where you will learn and practice yoga, while falling in love with goats! (Yoga mats provided). Please wear comfortable clothing.

    Introduction to Archery

    In this two-hour session, beginner archers will learn the basics of shooting and safety while practicing and competing in a fun shooting game to improve accuracy. Must wear closed-toed shoes. Equipment is provided. Youth ages 8-10 need an adult present for the duration of the session.
  • RC Car Racing

    Interested in RC Cars? Want to try racing them on a track? Then come join us as we explore what makes them work and get to try them out. Participants will leave with a better understanding and get some time testing out their driving skills on a few different types of RC Cars. Participants can use RC Cars provided or their own on approval. This is a great activity for kids and adults!
  • Swimming Lessons

    Welcome to the New Prague Area swimming program! We offer SwimAmerica lessons for ages 6 months (with a parent) through adults. All lessons are held indoors in the New Prague Aquatic Center. In the land of 10,000 lakes, we take learning to swim very seriously and look forward to providing this service for you and your loved ones. Mark your calendar for upcoming dates Priority registration will open at 7 am Central on Monday morning and close at 4 pm Central on Wednesday afternoon. Non-resident registration will open the following Monday at 7 am and remain open until sessions are full. Anyone who registers during this time will automatically be placed on a waitlist until residency can be confirmed. Summer 2024 Swimming Lessons Available sessions as of May 1, 2024 Please note, schedules may be subject to change based on availability of instructors.
  • Walk and Talk - NEW CLASS

    Walk and Talk New this year for parents and caregivers with children under age 8, an opportunity to connect with other moms, dads, nannies, grandparents and get in “steps.” A time to put on some comfy pants and lace up those tennis shoes for an hour of adult connection & movement. We will meet in the ECFE wing at 11:45 am. There will be a discussion question, a parenting tip and resources each week based on the interests of the group. Walk inside or out. Ms. Tara will be available to walk and connect with you too! You can pack a lunch for your little one and drop them off in the ECFE classroom. The class is free, but you do need to register for sib care. Cost is $20.00 per family per session.
  • Senior Summer Picnic

    Join us for a grillin' great time as we gather for a picnic and activities for adults 55 and over! The grill will be fired up outside the main entrance of the Fitness & Aquatic Center with tables for eating and activities outside or inside the building. The menu will include grilled hamburgers or brats, a cold salad, chips, baked beans, a dessert, and a drink. Activities, prizes and music will be available to enjoy following the meal. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Please register online or there will be sign up sheets at the Community Education main office and at the reception desk of the Fitness & Aquatic Center. Cost is $12.00 per person. All seniors are invited to register and attend--you do not have to be a member!

    Introduction to Voiceovers (Online)

    Adults 18 and up “Wow, you have a great voice!” Have you heard that more times than you can count? Or maybe you listen to your favorite audiobooks, commercials, or cartoon characters and think, “I could do that!” Want to earn income using your talents from the comfort of your home? If so, then you could have what it takes to begin working as a professional Voiceover Artist. Explore the voiceover industry with your instructor, a professional, working voice actor from the voice acting training company, Voices For All, in a one-on-one, personalized, video chat setting. Discover the current trends in the industry and how easy and affordable it can be to learn, set up and work from home. In this one-time, 90-minute, introductory class, you’ll also learn about the different types of voiceovers and the tools you’ll need to find success. Your instructor will record you as you read a real script, then offer you some coaching so you can improve your delivery. Your instructor will take notes on your performance and create a professional voiceover evaluation delivered to you in a follow up call. After the class, you will have the knowledge necessary to help you decide if this is something you’d like to pursue. You owe it to yourself to finally explore the possibilities of this fun and rewarding field! Upon registration you will be contacted by VFA to schedule your class for a day and time of your convenience.
