    Have you ever wanted to learn the guitar but simply find it difficult to find the time? In just a few hours you can learn enough about playing the guitar to give you years of musical enjoyment, and you won’t have to take private lessons to do it. This crash course will teach you some basic chords and get you playing along with your favorite songs right away. Since this class is being held online with ZOOM, you will be able to sit at home with your guitar and take this class without any pressure at all. And since the class includes an online book and online follow-up video lessons, you will be able to continue your practice and study on your own. An optional periodic online question and answer session is also included. A recording of the class is included as well. Class limited to 15 students. For ages 13+. Homemade jams, spicy salsas, fresh beans, fermented cabbage and more can all be enjoyed during the cold winter months. Home canning of fresh food provides a number of benefits, including: lower grocery bills, sustainable lifestyles, and better nutrition through control of the ingredients that go into your food. Once you know the basics, home canning and preservation is really quite easy. This class will introduce you to the tools/equipment, food safety, and produce/ingredient selection needed to successfully preserve this season and for many years to come.

    Introduction to Voiceovers (Online)

    Adults 18 and up “Wow, you have a great voice!” Have you heard that more times than you can count? Or maybe you listen to your favorite audiobooks, commercials, or cartoon characters and think, “I could do that!” Want to earn income using your talents from the comfort of your home? If so, then you could have what it takes to begin working as a professional Voiceover Artist. Explore the voiceover industry with your instructor, a professional, working voice actor from the voice acting training company, Voices For All, in a one-on-one, personalized, video chat setting. Discover the current trends in the industry and how easy and affordable it can be to learn, set up and work from home. In this one-time, 90-minute, introductory class, you’ll also learn about the different types of voiceovers and the tools you’ll need to find success. Your instructor will record you as you read a real script, then offer you some coaching so you can improve your delivery. Your instructor will take notes on your performance and create a professional voiceover evaluation delivered to you in a follow up call. After the class, you will have the knowledge necessary to help you decide if this is something you’d like to pursue. You owe it to yourself to finally explore the possibilities of this fun and rewarding field!   • Let's Probate an Actual Minnesota Estate (Online)

    In this class, we will do an in-depth walkthrough of an actual Minnesota Probate Estate from the filing of the application for probate to the final accounts - and all the steps in between. Class participants will learn the entire process with current forms, court and filing requirements, accounting and procedural steps, as well as the procedures for the sale and distribution of estate assets. We will also discuss the roles, responsibilities, and liabilities of a person who is appointed as the executor/personal representative. The class will be filled with real-life examples and solutions to the multitude of issues involving a typical (or not typical) Minnesota probate estate. This class encourages questions: Is there a “reading of the will”? What about personal items? Does the executor get paid? What about estate bills and creditors? We will provide the answers!

    Open Sewing for Quilters

    Are you looking for a change of scenery from your home or sewing room? Do you have a project you need advice on or would like to start a new one? Come and join Anne for a fun night of sewing and some good company with other quilters. Anne will be available to help you with your projects or get you started on one. Bring your machine, rotary cutter and project of your choice. A large cutting table, cutting mats, rulers, iron and workstation will be provided. All skill levels welcome!
  • Out and About: New Prague History-Walking Tour

    Join Greg Tikalsky for a one hour walking tour through historic New Prague. The tour will highlight the early business and community leaders of New Prague. Francis A. Bean, Doctor Edward E. Novak and William Harvey were among the leaders who ushered New Prague into the modern era. In addition to discussing the role of the mill and the railroad in the city’s development, a number of trivial tidbits will be given throughout the tour. The tour will begin in front of Lau's Bakery...wear a comfortable pair of shoes as we’ll cover about a mile on this tour. If there is inclement weather, we will let you know by 4 pm the day of your tour and will reschedule the following week.

    Did you know that the original plans for New Prague's Memorial Park included an aircraft landing strip, children's playground, as well as four holes of golf? Or, that the golf course included sand "greens" until the 1950's? These facts, along with many others, are included on the newly created walking tour of New Prague's memorial/recreational district.     Pickleball-Elko New Market

    Pickleball is at Eagle View Elementary! Starting after Labor Day through Memorial Day pickleball will be available at the Eagle View Elementary gym on Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30 pm-9:30 pm and Saturday mornings from 9:00 am-Noon. You may bring your own equipment (paddle and balls) or we will have a few items that can be borrowed at no cost. The nets are provided. You can purchase a daily pass for one time use or a monthly pass for unlimited play. Don’t let your lack of pickleball knowledge keep you from coming; this group is very welcoming toward all skill levels. **This registration is for the Eagle View site only. If playing in New Prague, it is a separate registration.

School Year Play - From Labor Day through Memorial Day the indoor hours are: CEC Gym - Mon-Fri 6:30-9am; Raven Stream Gym - Sun 3-5pm, Wed 6:30-8:30pm, Sat 8-10am. You may bring your own equipment or borrow ours at no cost. You can purchase a daily pass for one time use or a 3 month, 6 month or 1 year pass for unlimited play.     Join us for a grillin' great time as we gather for a picnic and activities for adults 55 and over! The grill will be fired up outside the main entrance of the Fitness & Aquatic Center with tables for eating and activities outside or inside the building. The menu will include grilled hamburgers or brats, a cold salad, chips, baked beans, a dessert, and a drink. Activities, prizes and music will be available to enjoy following the meal. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Please register online or there will be sign up sheets at the Community Education main office and at the reception desk of the Fitness & Aquatic Center. Cost is $12.00 per person. All seniors are invited to register and attend--you do not have to be a member!
