    American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED

    Includes a textbook and CPR card This course is designed for those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements or for those who have a desire to learn the techniques of CPR and the use of an AED. This classroom based, instructor-led course teaches adult, child and infant CPR/AED as well as choking management. The general public and anyone interested in learning CPR may take this class. (This course is not intended for healthcare providers.)

    Don’t let the cooler weather damper your exercise program. Join your friends and neighbors in a safe, warm, dry environment and walk to your heart’s content. Exercise as often as you like. Bring water and clean, dry tennis shoes. How do I participate? Pre-registration is required. All walkers also need to obtain a hall walking badge PRIOR to walking at any of our schools. Your badge can be picked up between the hours of 7:00 AM-4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, at the New Prague Area Community Education office located at 410 Central Ave North, New Prague - enter through door #1. What is the cost? $10/person/year Where do I walk? Falcon Ridge Elementary (5:30-8:00 PM), New Prague High School indoor walking track (7:00-7:30 AM & 4:00-8:00 PM) or Eagle View Elementary (5:30 PM-8:00 PM). Registration allows you access to all three schools. When do I walk? Monday-Friday when school is in session. Schools are not open for walking when other building activities are taking place, on non-school days and for weather-related closures. Children and strollers are not permitted. Non-school dates will be provided when you pick up your badge. Dates and times are subject to change based upon all school activities. No food or beverages other than water are allowed.     Pickleball-Elko New Market

    Pickleball is at Eagle View Elementary! Starting after Labor Day through Memorial Day pickleball will be available at the Eagle View Elementary gym on Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30 pm-9:30 pm and Saturday mornings from 9:00 am-Noon. You may bring your own equipment (paddle and balls) or we will have a few items that can be borrowed at no cost. The nets are provided. You can purchase a daily pass for one time use or a monthly pass for unlimited play. Don’t let your lack of pickleball knowledge keep you from coming; this group is very welcoming toward all skill levels. **This registration is for the Eagle View site only.     Summer Play - Join other pickleball enthusiasts for open play on the outdoor Middle School courts this summer or in case of inclement weather inside on M-F from 7-9 in the CEC gym and inclement evenings and weekends on one of the three courts located in the Raven Stream Elementary School gym. School Year Play - From Labor Day through Memorial Day the indoor hours are: CEC Gym - Mon-Fri 6:30-9am; Raven Stream Gym - Sun 3-5pm, Wed 6:30-8:30pm, Sat 8-10am. You may bring your own equipment or borrow ours at no cost. You can purchase a daily pass for one time use or a 3 month, 6 month or 1 year pass for unlimited play.   • Thyroid things you need to know (Online)

    If you currently take thyroid medication but are still gaining weight and still have a variety of symptoms, there's more you need to know. Fatigue, weight gain, depression, anxiety, rising cholesterol levels, inability to focus, thinning hair, digestive problems, abnormal blood pressure, reduced sex drive, and heart palpitations are only some of the symptoms. In this workshop, we’ll discuss how thyroid function can make any illness worse; the 5 things that need to be measured, but usually aren’t; why the #1 thyroid replacement may not be helping you; connection between thyroid, fibromyalgia and arthritis; foods that help or hinder; commonly misunderstood rules of how and when to take thyroid meds; environmental triggers and info you need to discuss with your doctor. This workshop is a source of information only and should by no means be considered a substitute for the advice of a qualified medical professional.

    Are you finding no matter how well you watch what you eat or how much you exercise, weight is not budging? Your inability to lose weight probably has more to do with hormone levels than anything else. Until imbalances are corrected, trying to lose weight will be like shoveling sand against the tide. We’ll discuss which hormones are involved and what can be done to correct imbalances; concrete solutions for controlling appetite and cravings; major sources of hormone mimicking chemicals and how to get rid of them; what HRT or birth control pills have to do with weight gain; how to have your hormone levels checked reliably; and what steps need to be taken to safely break the vicious cycle of hormone related weight gain.

    Yoga is a practice that connects the body, breath and mind. It uses physical postures, breathing exercises and meditation to improve overall health. Explore traditional poses, balancing postures and the fundamentals of a flowing yoga practice. Work at your own level in a safe and supportive environment. Modifications will be offered as you practice each pose and build strength, flexibility and mind/body awareness. We suggest students arrive in comfortable clothing for movement and bring their own yoga mat and water. Mats are available to borrow if needed.
